Kids at Mt Harmony-Lower Marlboro Church

Meeting the spiritual needs of our children sometimes get placed on the "back burner" when the demands of school, sports and extra-curricular activites increases with age. Our approach to ministry is family-based as we seek to be an inter-generational community where all ages serve in mission together.

We don't hold traditional Sunday school, but we still value the Christian Education that is important for every age level.

On Sunday mornings at 8:30am at Lower Marlboro, we offer a bible lesson after the children's sermon,  children begin and end with their parents in the worship service.

On Sunday Mornings at 10am, children also  begin in the sanctuary with their family and then go to Junior Church after the Children's Sermon. A nursery is available during this service for infants - peek. Older children can sign up for helping in the Junior Church or the nursery.

All of our ministries with children follow a Safe Sanctuary Policy that includes screening of adult workers and maintaining ratios for safety. A copy of the policy is available through the church office.

Infants - Pre-K  Jesus held a special place in ministry and so do we! We want all children to begin their walk in faith surrounded by a community of steadfast grace. Sunday Morning Nursery care is led by Miss Darcy, Mr Joel and Miss Maggie at each location.
Mom's Mornings Out is held Wednesday & Friday from 9:15am- 11:15am. Contact the church office for details.

During the week, we offer a gospel-based weekday preschool for ages 2-5 . Mid-week chapel, and hands-on bible lessons are integrated into the preschool curriculum.

Discipleship of this age group widens from Junior Church on Sunday morning  to include deeper learning of the Bible, the inspiration of scripture and participation in acts of worship on Sunday. Up through 2nd grade they continue to attend Jr Church on Sundays where they learn music for Children's Choir. But all kids in this age are welcomed to enroll in Kids Bible Academy with Pastor Faith for an opportunity to read through the whole Bible in one year, apply scripture to life, and discover daily meditation as a means of growing closer to God. Kids Bible Academy is Wednesdays after school til 5:45 and kids are welcomed to stay for dinner. The Bible Academy students will receive a yearlong bible and additional resources for a cost of $80 a student. Scholarships are provided by many generous contributors who are dedicated to the discipleship of the next generation. See the School's Out Calendar for mission events. ENROLL ON LINE

Middle School (ages 11-14)
After School until 6PM at Mt Harmony Church

Studies show that kids with a faith community (any place where worship, serving, exploring questions about God and praying together is honored) are better equipped to meet the challenges of growing up. Having a faith community means having “friends on the journey” and  so this age group is where we begin to deepen an understanding of the "body of Christ". Kids meet each Thursday after school (Bus from Windy Hill Middle & Northern Middle) until 6pm. They often assist with Wednesday Dinners and Jr Church. Youth choir practice is Wednesday at 6pm. Highlights of the year will include the Winter Retreat to Ocean City called ROCK and On The Edge Camp in Ligonier, PA. See the School's Out Calendar for more events.

High School (ages 14-18)

(Bus transportation from Northern High and other high schools by arrangement) ROCK The Winter Retreat to Ocean City,  On The Edge Camp, and mission trips are highlights.
